Added by Zenia. Last Edited by swati sen

Name: Abies cilicica

Description: Abies cilicica is a slow growing species of conifer in the Pinaceae family. It is native to Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. It is a tall evergreen tree that can grow to a height of 60 to 70 feet. Its needle-like leaves spread forward and upward, bright green above, narrow whitish bands beneath. The growth habit is columnar, forming a tall spire. The foliage shows grayish green from a distance. It survives heavy clay, moist, well drained soil and requires sunlight at least for 6-8 hours a day. Although in the wild it can be found growing with Cedar of Lebanon on calcareous, rocky soils with hot dry summers, mild and moist winters.
