Name: Aged Garlic Extract

Other Names: AGE

Description: AGE is, as the name suggests, produced by aging garlic: it's sliced, macerated and kept in water or alcohol for up to two years before being turned into a dietary supplement.Garlic has a wide range of disease-fighting benefits. A debate has been going on for years as to whether aged garlic extract is better than high-allicin garlic extract . Both sides appear to agree that aged garlic extract does not have the bacteria- and virus-killing properties of high-allicin garlic. But compounds formed during aging of garlic, such as s-allyl-cysteine and s-allyl-mercapto-cysteine, also exhibit significant health benefits, including immune enhancement.In any case, both forms of garlic: reduce cholesterol by an average of 9 percent, significantly thin the blood by inhibiting abnormal platelet aggregation, reduce cancer risk by neutralizing dietary mutagens and inhibiting free radicals, help to remove iron and other toxic heavy metals from the body, protect neurons from aging damage, boost immune function, inhibit oxidation of LDL and VLDL cholesterol, and lower blood pressure in some people.
