Anoectochilus formosanus

Added by Anshu. Last Edited by Anshu

Name: Anoectochilus formosanus

Description: Anoectochilus formosanus is a dweller of the cool, damp rainforest of North Queensland, Australia. It grows near the tops of the ranges in a few isolated places. A small plant, it clings to rock crevices or patches of leaf litter in small creeks. Rarely successfully grown in the orchid house, unlike its Chinese cousin Anoectochilus formosanus, it is a delicate plant that usually does not take to artificial growing conditions. Other species of Anoectochilus seem to do well in a mixture of spaghnam moss and shredded isolite (polystyrene), in a well drained container. A dormant period may be the secret to growing this particular species.
