Conditions Treated: Skin and Hair

Specific Conditions Treated: Black Tongue

Ingredients Used: Psidium sartorianum

Description: Black Tongue is often referred to as black hairy tongue and lingua villosa, but it may also appear brown, or pink - often due to secondary factors such as mouthwashes, breath mints, etc. Most of the time patients experience no pain or discomfort. Treatment of a black tongue should be designed address the cause. The "hairy" areas are usually on the posterior (back) of the tongue and never involve the undersurface. The tongue is covered by a hairy black layer, hence the name Hairy Tongue, Black Tongue or Lingua Villosa. Psidium sartorianum fruit extracts are a natural alternative to commonly used anti-fungals like clotrimazole or ketoconazole. Psidium sartorianum is also devoid of commonly occurring adverse effects associated with these anti-fungals and is also not hepatoxic. Hence it is beneficial in the treatment of Black Tongue.
