Description: Carpel Tunnel Syndrome is a condition precipitated by Median nerve entrapment or the compression of the median nerve in the wrist. The compression of the median nerve leads to pain, paresthesias, and muscle weakness in the hand. The pain can occur in the thumb, index and middle finger along the path of the median nerve. Different approaches are used for the treatment of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. Use of aids like braces are tried first to immobilize the wrist. As a last resort surgery is conducted to release the compressed median nerve. The prognosis is generally very good.
