Description: The common cold or cold also known as acute viral nasopharyngitis, or acute coryza, is caused by a viral infection of the nose and throat, the upper respiratory tract infection, is a highly contagious disease. There are over 200 types of viruses that cause the common cold and one of the most common is the rhinovirus or 'nose' virus since rhino means nose. Common symptoms are sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing and cough; sometimes accompanied by 'pink eye', muscle aches, fatigue, malaise, headaches, muscle weakness, and/or loss of appetite. Fever and extreme exhaustion are more usual in influenza. The symptoms of common cold usually resolve after about one week, but can last up to two. Symptoms may be more severe in infants and young children. Hypericum hircinum aerial extracts are a very potent microbicidal and as effective as common anti-biotics like Ciprofloxacin or erythromycin. Hypericum hircinum commonly just called hypericums, and also known as Stinking Tutsan. Hypericum is easily available in the market.

Directions For Use: Hypericum is an effective microbicidal, so it can be used to treat common cold. Boil 100gms of finely chopped aerial parts of Hypericum plant in 500 ml of water. Strain and drink 50 ml of this extract, thrice daily for a week. The symptoms of common cold are resolved in a week.

Not To Use With: No specific precaution needs to be followed while using Hypericum extract to treat Common Cold.

Side Effects: None are seen with Hypericum extract.

Expected Results: The symptoms of Common Cold are resolved in a week using Hypericum extract.
