Ingredients Used: Barberry

Description: Conjunctivitis is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, the thin transparent layer of tissue that lines the inner surface of the eyelid and covers the white part of the eye. Conjunctivitis is also known as Red Eye, Pinkeye and Madras Eye. The leaves and roots of Barberry were as effective as common antibacterials like penicillin, amoxycillin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, Genticyn or Fluoroquinolones. They work in a similar way as these antibiotic drugs do in treating Conjunctivitis. Also there is no any side effects associated with them. Hence Barberry is called as a natural alternative to above mentioned antibiotic drugs available over the counter. Barberry is also known by other names such as Berberis heterophylla, Jaundice Berry, Berberis and pepperidge bush.

Directions For Use: A powder is prepared with leaves and roots of Barberry. One teaspoon of this powder is then boiled in a cup of of water for about 10 min. Then strain and cool it. Drink this tea thrice daily for 3 days. The antibacterial property of leaves and roots will come in the tea, thus treats Conjunctivitis.

Not To Use With: As such no specific precaution needs to be followed while using Barberry in the treatment of Conjunctivitis.

Side Effects: None are seen. As Barberry is safe and well tolerated in the treatment of Conjunctivitis.

Expected Results: The symptoms of Conjunctivitis have shown to be resolved in 3 days of the treatment with Barberry.
