Diarrhea or Dysentery means loose watery stools caused by the hyper-motility of the intestines. Dysentery or Diarrhea is also accompanied by cramps, bloating, nausea and an urgent need to have a bowel movement. Diarrhea could be caused by infection of pathogens like bacteria, viruses or parasites, certain medicines, food intolerances and diseases that affect the stomach, small intestine or colon. Although not a serious problem since it can be very easily resolved by replenishing the body fluid reserves. If not treated in time Diarrhea or Dysentery can become life threatening. Medical help should be immediately taken if the Diarrhea is accompanied by vomiting, there is blood in the stools, diarrhea for more than three days, severe pain in the abdomen, or there is high fever. If your child has diarrhea, do not hesitate to call the doctor for advice. Diarrhea can be dangerous in children.
