Fibroma of the Uterus/ Uterine fibroids/ Uterine Fibroma/ Leiomyomata/ Leiomyoma or Uterine Fibroma are benign tumors which grow from the muscle layers of the uterus. Fibroids may be single or multiple. They are the most common benign neoplasm in females, and may affect women during the reproductive years. Uterine fibroids often do not require treatment, but when they are problematic, they may be treated surgically or with medication, possible interventions include a hysterectomy, hormonal therapy, a myomectomy, or uterine artery embolization. Fibroma of the Uterus shrink dramatically in size after a woman passes through menopause. The exact cause of Fibroma of the Uterus is not known. Uterine Fibroids are characterized by "Heavy or painful periods or bleeding between periods, Feeling 'full' in the lower abdomen, Increased urination, Pain during sex, Lower back pain, and Reproductive problems, such as infertility, multiple miscarriages or early labor". Some women do not have any symptoms. Most women with fibroids can get pregnant naturally. For those who cannot, infertility treatments may help. Treatment for uterine fibroids include "Medicines that can slow or stop their growth, or surgery". If you have no symptoms, you may not even need treatment.
