Description: If you have tried every shampoo out there and still find that they all dry out your scalp it may be time for you to ditch the liquid shampoos and go back to basics. Long time ago shampoo came in a solid form just like your regular bar soap. The formulation of the shampoo bar is the key to help wipe away your dry scalp problems. Shampoo bars are easily found through local hand-made soapers. You want to look for a shampoo bar with olive oil and castor oils in them. Other oils may also be used but get a shampoo bar that has at a min. these 2 oils. A shampoo bar containing calendula, comfrey root, or marshmallow root is also a requirement for those with dry scalp & hair and honey is ideal too. These ingredients will eventually help restore some health and balance back to your scalp. Look for shampoo bars that don't contain any synthetic fragrances. Shampoo bars can easily be scented with essentials oils instead. Also the higher grade shampoo bars will have no ADDED glycerin. Glycerin is naturally formed in the process of making cold-pressed soaps and should not be added in.
Directions For Use: Wet hair thoroughly and later up the shampoo bar like a bar of soap. Run the lather through your hair just like regular shampoo. When you make the switch from conventional shampoo to a natural shampoo bar your hair and scalp will go through an adjustment phase as it detoxes. If you experience any build-up in your hair during the process use a vinegar rinse like you would use a conditioner for regular shampoo. Pour a little vinegar in a cup and fill the rest of the cup with water to get a 1:5 ratio. After you shampoo, saturate your hair and scalp with the diluted vinegar. It works like a conditioner dissolving the buildup and balancing the pH, making your hair silky and combable.
Expected Results: You should immediately notice improved hair and scalp and over time after your hair has adjusted you will see healthier low-maintenance hair.

Sounds great. Use these ingredients often, and have switched to a variety of good bar soaps for shampooing. Will incorporate your ideas.
I've been battling Blepharitis--what do you think of dusting calendula on eyelashes??? Blepharitis somewhat like dandruff of the eyelashes. Any thoughts/ideas welcome. Thanks!

High SigLo,
I dont think it is a very good idea. If you are continuously battling with Blepharitis, it would be better to go for a sugar test since Blepharitis is very common among diabetics.Further Blepharitis is a systemic infection and hence you can use any herbal anti-biotic mentioned in this site. There are many herbal anti-biotic which has been discussed in this Mamaherb site.
