The European Dry Plum is one of the three varieties of plums -
European, Japanese, and native North American. Dry plums, called also prunes, are prepared when plums are left for a couple of weeks to dry. The process of drying reduced the water content of the plum, while preserving its high sugar content and originalflavor. European plums are grown in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
Prunes contain vitamins, such as A and B, fiber, iron, calcium, and phosphorus. They can be eaten raw or boiled.
