Encephalitis is a pathogenic infection of the brain. It is usually caused by a viral infection, but bacteria can also cause it. Severity of the symptoms range from mild to severe. Encephalitis is of two types: Primary and secondary. The former involves the direct infection of the brain while in the latter the infection occurs elsewhere in the body and travels to the brain. Symptoms of Japanese Encephalitis or Brain Fever include "Severe headache, sudden fever, drowsiness, vomiting, confusion and, seizures". Seeing your doctor and receiving timely treatment is important because the course of the disease is unpredictable.
