Description: Goat’s head is also knwon as Acanthospermum hispidum and Hispid starburr. It is herbaceous flowering plants that belong to family Asteraceae. Goat’s head is an annual plant, which is native to Tropical America. This plant is cited as a weed in cotton culture in Brazil, and it is also used as a medicinal plant. The Goat’s head is being studied for its microbial activity. In one research the ethanolic extracts of the leaves and flowering tops of this plant showed varying degrees of activity against a wide range of pathogenic bacteria. Hence the parts of this plant such as leaves and flower tops are used against pathogenic microbial activity.
