Name: Greater Plantain

Other Names: Plantago major (Latin), llantén (Spanish), common plantain

Description: Greater plantain, Plantago major, belongs to the family Plantaginaceae. It's native to Europe and northern and central Asia, although now it could be found in many places around the world; very common in roadsides, paths...frequently as a weed.

Leaves simple, alternate. Flowers small grouped in a dense spike on top of a stem.

Plantago major could be used in salads, teas and has been used as a would healer, ulcers, varicose veins, kidney and liver ailments, snakebites, conjunctivitis and cataracts.
