What is Hypermetropia?
Also called: Long Sightedness
Hypermetropia or Long Sightedness is a common disease seen in people above the age of 45. Hypermetropia or Long Sightedness is caused by the eye ball being too short causing the image to be formed behind the retina. This causes the inability of the eye to focus objects kept near the eyes. As an object moves toward the eye, the eye must increase its power to keep the image in focus on the retina. If the power of the cornea and lens is insufficient, as in Hypermetropia or Long Sightedness, the image will appear blurred. People with Hypermetropia or Long Sightedness can experience blurred vision, asthenopia, accommodative dysfunction, binocular dysfunction, amblyopia and strabismus.
