Conditions Treated Using Japanese Plum Yew:

Name: Japanese Plum Yew

Other Names: Cephalotaxus harringtonia, Cowtail Pine

Description: Cephalotaxus harringtonia, is also known as Cowtail Pine or the Japanese Plum Yew. It’s a coniferous bush or a small tree in the plum yew family. As the name suggest it is native to Japan, but is occasionally utilized in western gardens and numerous cultivators exist for these purposes. The new shoots of Japanese Plum Yew remains green for a span of three years after forming and have ribs at the leaf bases. The buds are green in color, circular in shape and quite small at only 1 mm in length. There’s one rank of leaves present on either side of the shoot. These rise up above it and arc somewhat inwards, forming a slender V-shape to some extent similar to a dove's wings. The rank of leaves is often vertical, but can be further flattened at the shaded parts. The leaves of Japanese Plum Yew are generally linear in shape and can measure between 5 cm long by 0.3 cm wide. These leaves are abruptly pointed at the tip, leathery in feel and have a bright not glossy yellowish-green on the upper-surface. The bottom surface or the underside of the leaves, have two broad, pale silvery stomatal bands.
