Arthralgia means joint pain. Joint pain can be caused by trauma or chronic diseases such as arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Joint pain can be very debilitating and restricts free movement. Arthritis is the most common cause of joint pain. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease. It causes the eating of the synovial membrane that provides for the smooth movement of the joints by the body’s immune system. Osteoarthritis, another joint disorder is seen mostly in middle age persons. Bursitis or the inflammation of the bursa can also cause joint pain. Bursa is fluid filled sacs which help in the smooth movement of muscles and tendons.
Arthralgia is also known as Stiffness in a joint, Pain - joints and Joint pains.

Autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, bursitis, chondromalacia patellae, gout, infectious diseases such as Epstein-Barr viral syndrome, hepatitis, influenza, lyme disease and measles (rubeola), Injuries which includes fracture, osteoarthritis, osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, tendonitis and excessive stress /strain of muscles and joint.
