Conditions Treated Using Mudpack:

Name: Mudpack

Description: Mud is one of the five elements of nature having immense impact on the body in health as well as in sickness. It is used as the best therapeutic agent in Naturopathy treatment. Mud retains moisture for a long time. When applied over the body part it causes cooling by absorbing the heat of the body. It reduces the inflammation of the area and improves the circulation, absorption and elimination. When it is applied on the affected part, it soothes the inflammation and painful part. It is supposed to be a great purifier as it tries to draw away the toxins from the system by increasing circulation in the affected part where it is applied. Its shape and consistency can be changed easily by adding water. Moreover, it is cheap and easily available.
Mud procured for treatment should be black cotton soil, slightly greasy and free from pollution and contamination and taken out from 4'-5' below the ground. Before use, mud should be dried, powdered and sieved to remove all the foreign particles and impurities. After thorough cleaning, it should be soaked for minimum 24 hours in tanks, then to be made into paste by kneading it. It is now ready for packs and application.
Procedure : It is applied by keeping soaked mud in a thin white, muslin cloth in the form of a thin flat brick in size depending on the size of the patient's abdomen. The size of the mudpack is generally 10" X 6" X one". The duration of the mudpack application is 20 to 30 minutes. When applied during winter, place a blanket over the mudpack and cover the body at the same time.
