Name: Neem

Other Names: Azadirachta indica, Margosa

Description: Neem tree or Margosa or Azadirachta indica is a member of the Mahagony family. Neem tree or Margosa has been used for ages in traditional Ayurvedic medicines in India. All parts of the Neem tree or Margosa is useful. The leaves of Neem tree or Margosa contain a bitter alkaloid 'Neemin' which is a very good antiseptic. Neem leaves paste is used for treatment of Leprosy and chicken pox.Neem tree or Margosa twigs are used for flossing the teeth and the fruits of Neem are an excellent digestive and carminative. Neem is a fast-growing tree that can reach a height of 15-20 m (about 50-65 feet), rarely to 35-40 m (115-131 feet). It is evergreen but in severe drought it may shed most or nearly all of its leaves. The branches are wide spread. The fairly dense crown is roundish or oval and may reach the diameter of 15-20 m in old, free-standing specimens.
