Also called: Recurrent prostate infections, Prostatic infections, Prostatitis
Prostatitis also known as Prostate infection or Prostatic infection or Recurrent prostate infections is an inflammation of the prostate gland in men an organ about the size and shape of a walnut, located just below the bladder in males. The prostate gland produces semen, the fluid that helps nourish and transport sperm. Prostatitis can cause many symptoms, including the following "Difficult or painful urination, burning when urinating, frequent urination, fever, low-back pain, pain in the groin, inability to get an erection and decreased interest in sex or pelvic pain". There are 2 kinds of Prostatitis: acute prostatitis and chronic bacterial prostatitis. Both are caused by an infection of the prostate. Some kinds of Prostatitis may be a result of the muscles of the pelvis or the bladder not working correctly. Antibiotics are used to treat Prostatitis that is caused by an infection. You might have to take antibiotics for several weeks or a few months. If Prostatitis is severe, you might have to go to a hospital for treatment with fluids and antibiotics.
