I had a raindrop treatment about 6 months ago which poisoned me. I wish I had questioned the practitioner more about her training and what she would use on me and how it would be done. Essential oils are not to be used neat on the body with rare exceptions such as lavender and tea tree. In this treatment, many of the essential oils are known to be toxic, and should never be used in such high doses. I experienced a strange taste of peppermint in my mouth for a week, had chills, my pulse was racing, I could actually feel it's palpatations in my forearm and neck. along with other frightening symptoms.

In short I would suggest that if you are considering getting this treatment done...don't. Educate yourself on the safe use of essential oils in books by qualified professionals such as Shirley & Len Price.

Who said you were poison by the treatment? What you describe in your post seems more like the side effects of body detox.

To lia, the person who had the raindrop technique:
It wasn't the oils, it was the practitioner and her lack of intellect regarding the quality necessary to use them on the skin. Application is not the same as just having a pleasant scent in the room, even though our olfactory system can absorb. To some degree it can also filter (not in cases of harsh chemicals-I just mean when oils are alcohol extracted or something similar).

Your practitioner likely used sesquiterpene rich oils and some lousy chemical laden lotion or something of the sort. I just can't explain how stupid it is that massage therapists aren't required to take an essential oil safety course. Then they go out and poison people. If you were wearing lotion, perfume, after shave, deodorant or even had a drop of toothpaste on you, you were being put in danger at the petrolium based chemicals that may have crossed your blood-brain barrier along with the sesquiterpenes.

Ironically the only way to truly and fully detox from such a poisoning is through the PROPER use of essential oils, unless you want to wait 6 months.
