Conditions Treated: Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Specific Conditions Treated: Shingles

Ingredients Used: Anthocleista

Description: The virus responsible for chickenpox is a member of the Herpesviruses. Shingles is a skin rash caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. The virus responsible for these conditions is called the Varicella zoster virus (VZV). Shingles is medically termed Herpes zoster and is also called as Herpes, Postherpetic neuralgia, HSV or Herpes Simplex. Pain, itching, tingling, or burning of the skin are symptoms of shingles that often precede the rash in an outbreak. Shingles is contagious. Shingles can be spread from an affected person to children or adults who have not had chickenpox. But instead of developing shingles, these people develop chickenpox. Once they have had chickenpox, people cannot catch shingles or contract the virus from someone else. Once infected, however, people have the potential to develop shingles later in life. Shingles is contagious to people that have not previously had chickenpox, as long as there are new blisters forming and old blisters healing. Once all of the blisters are crusted over, the virus can no longer be spread. The herpes virus that causes shingles and chickenpox is not the same as the herpes virus that causes genital herpes (which can be sexually transmitted) and herpes mouth sores. Anthocleista root extracts are as effective as commonly used antibiotics used in STD like Doxycycline or Flouroquinolones. Anthocleista is easily avilable in the market, which gives an added advantage to Anthocleista as a potent herbal medicine.

While I like the idea of homeopathic remedies, shingles typically clears up within one month (without any aide), so this plant apparently doesn't speed up the process at all. I have been given an anti-viral medication, however, and have been told that my rash should fade within two weeks. Also, I need to point out that Shingles is caused by a virus, so it would seem that a plant packed with antibiotics will only help prevent secondary infections that might occur and won't effect the root cause.

Shingles is horrible and all down to the fact that that nasty virus does not leave your body when you become infected with chickenpox. A good remedy is Apply Cider which will stop the itching and discomfort.
