Snoring is common disorder. Almost half of adults snore at least occasionally. Snoring is a sound made in the upper airway of your throat as you sleep. In some cases the sound may be soft, but in other cases, it can be rather loud and quite unpleasant. Snoring normally occurs as you breathe in air. It is a sign that your airway is being partially blocked. It can occur during any stage of sleep. For people who snore regularly, it is most common in the REM and slow-wave stages of sleep. Snoring is known to cause sleep deprivation to snorers and those around them, as well as daytime drowsiness, irritability, lack of focus and decreased libido.
