Description: Vitex is a diverse plant genus in the family of Lamiaceae. . A well-known representative of the genus is the monk's pepper (Vitex agnus-castus). The representatives of the genus are shrubs or trees with young heights between one and 35 meters, sometimes climbing. The leaves are mostly feathered fan like with 3 to 5 (rarely 1 to 7) leaves.The flower heads are axial panicles. The individual flowers are small, they are white, blue, purple and yellow. There are 4 stamens. The fruits are small and ovate, the fruit contains a hard core with a seed.The seeds and leaves have many potential medicinal uses.
